Hats Off to Summer.

Friday, March 30th, 2012

This summer is looking to be a sunny one, and nothing says you’re ready to battle that bright light in style like a timeless hat. Not only do they protect your face from harmful rays, they also make the perfect topper to any swimwear ensemble.

Melissa Odabash’s straw hats have become some kind of phenomenon, a must-have favorite among hat lovers everywhere. Classic and timeless silhouettes that can be worn for seasons to come. The Elle has that rustic charm that’ll make you feel like you’re on vacation on all season long.

Never before have we seen a more responsible hat-maker than the beatiful Greenpacha. These hats are hand-woven and a portion of the proceeds ultimately return to the village where they’re crafted. The wider brim and natural palm these hats are woven from will become summer staples that you won’t want to leave the house without.

Out for Spring Break!

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

It’s that time again, the kids are out of school, the sun is visiting more frequently and spring fever is in full effect! Weather reports are predicting this year to be extra sunny, so we’re planning lots of day trips to the beach. Here are some of our spring picks:

From left to right: Mary Bag, Chelsea Bag both by CAFFE

When it comes to trekking to the beach, convenience begins with the perfect carry-all. These straw beauties by Caffe do just the trick. Just large enough to carry all the essentials, from your beach towel to your sunnies and fashion mags!

We like to keep it simple make up-wise when it comes to a day at the beach, and this palette is all we’ve been reaching for as of late. Call us lazy, but it’s got everything necessary to achieve that sunkissed, beach-glow look, with natural colors and cheek highlighter. The key to retaining that beachy glow is definitely sun protectant, and these Greenpacha hats are a quick and chic fix. The brim isn’t overwhelmingly wide, so you can wear it while laying out at the beach or as you run errands during the day!

If you haven’t already gathered, we’re all about beach glamour, head to toe. Which is why come summer, we’re ditching all our boots and pumps for season-friendly sandals and espadrilles. These lilac Melissa Shoes have become fast favorites as they’re totally water-proof (perfect post-dip) and also provide that desired lift! The dark brown upper and natural espadrille lower of OndadeMar’s Lido shoe make the perfect combo, easily dressed up or down for summer activities day or night.

Enjoy your weekend, we’re off to the beach!

Fit Guide: Fully Covered.

Wednesday, March 7th, 2012

So you’re looking for a full coverage bottom but are having a hard time finding one that doesn’t resemble a diaper or granny panty? We think that finding a full coverage bottom might be the hardest of all, but we’re here to help!

From left to right: Tangier Pinup, Cobalt Chloe Triple Braid both by VITAMIN A

The one with the rings is practically a cult classic. If you’ve been on the hunt for a full coverage bottom and haven’t tried this one yet, you’re missing out! It has contoured rings and a perfectly cut back, full but not granny-full. If you have tried it and know the wonders of its magic, try the braided bottom next. It offers a great alternate style, sexy keyholes at the side and still provides that great coverage in back!

The trick is to maintain a sleek and snug fit and to remember that swim fabrics will sometimes stretch slightly once wet. When buying, keep these things in mind so that you don’t end up with sagging or ill-fitting bottoms.

Fit Guide: A Little Somethin’ Extra

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012

So you’ve realized the Brazilian bottom is not for you, but you’re not looking for full coverage either, just the perfect moderate bottom… Well, take your pick!

From left to right: Paris by ODABASH, Carnival Vintage by ONDADEMAR

The great thing about a moderate bottom is that it’s safe — you can rest assured that it’ll be appropriate for any and all occasions, whether you’re chasing down little ones on the beach or vacationing with the in-laws.

If you’re just looking for bottoms to match tops you might already have, take a look at the ones above — sold completely separate.

Fit Guide: Bottom for the BRAZILIAN Lover.

Monday, March 5th, 2012

If you aren’t afraid to show a little skin, we think Brazilian bottoms are the most flattering, whether their cinched, ruched or just your basic bottom.

From left to right: Romano and Paris by PILY Q

The ruching on the back of these two styles enhance the rear, and also come in a variety of newly released summer colors! Easily one of our most popular styles, these come with ties on the side or a classic smooth hip.

We understand that the ruched back design isn’t for everyone, even those that aren’t afraid of smaller bottoms, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t enjoy the perks of a Brazilian bottom. Cia Maritima and Despi are two lines that are actually made in Brazil. They offer the flattering benefits of minimal coverage, but without ruching in back!
