The Summer Playsuit.

Monday, May 7th, 2012

We’re very into the simplicity of a onsie.

Step 1. Put it on

Step 2. You’re done!

We swear it’s the solution to every girl’s “closet full of clothes– nothing to wear” nightmare, and are glad to see different ones popping up in a lot of different designer swimwear collections; from casual to flirty to plain sexy!

These soft cotton ones are great for throwing on pre/post beach and can also double as comfy lounge-wear!

From left to right: Strapless Romper Pachanga and Solid T-Back Romper by LULI FAMA

These light-weight wonders from Luli Fama are great for the summer heat and have very flattering fits, cinching where they should and being flowy where they should.

And if you’re looking for something a little dressier, this sleek black one by Aqua di Lara is perfect. It’s got a chic one-shoulder design and edgy black serpent detailing.

Happy Friday the 13th/ Coachella Weekend!

Friday, April 13th, 2012

UNlucky for us, today is the first day we can’t see Catalina Island from the window of Laguna Beach store! Thank you, rain clouds! But we bet this weather isn’t getting the Coachella crowd down, so we won’t let it get us down either. Here are some outfits we’d probably be rocking had we gone/ the weather allowed –

From left to right: Serpentine Fringe Bandeau & Ava Beach Poncho by L*SPACE

Alright, so it’s not really fair that this Serpentine fringe beauty isn’t actually available yet, but come on! We couldn’t resist. Pre-Order it here! You’d think we’d be sick of the fringe by now, but L*Space just keeps bring it, pretty hard, and we’re so in love we just can’t help ourselves.

From left to right: Monaco Bandeau by MIKOH & Hanalei Hooded Coverup by ACACIA

This cutout bandeau is a no-fuss no-brainer when it comes to packing for a festival weekend. Simple and sleek, wearable with practically any bottom. Plus, this hooded dress by Acacia is kind of amazing, perfectly desert-chic! It’s comfy, light-weight and effortless.

From left to right: Regine Jumper by VITAMIN A & Elle Cowboy Hat by ODABASH

If there were words, we’d say them, but this jumper totally speaks for itself. It’s beautifully crafted in a diamond crochet fabric with a modern 70s wide leg. The cowboy hat brings a little fun into the mix. We’re in the desert, after all!

From left to right: Fortaleza & Tumbes by Agua Bendita

And lastly, these versatile bikinis by Agua Bendita. What’s great is that they can double as swimwear & tops. Pair their tribal-esque designs with some highwaisted denim shorts and you’re set. Also, they’d make for some pretty fierce pool-side attire (you know, if any pool parties happen to be around ;)

Out for Spring Break!

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

It’s that time again, the kids are out of school, the sun is visiting more frequently and spring fever is in full effect! Weather reports are predicting this year to be extra sunny, so we’re planning lots of day trips to the beach. Here are some of our spring picks:

From left to right: Mary Bag, Chelsea Bag both by CAFFE

When it comes to trekking to the beach, convenience begins with the perfect carry-all. These straw beauties by Caffe do just the trick. Just large enough to carry all the essentials, from your beach towel to your sunnies and fashion mags!

From left to right: Stila Palette by L*SPACE, Panama Classic Hat by GREENPACHA

We like to keep it simple make up-wise when it comes to a day at the beach, and this palette is all we’ve been reaching for as of late. Call us lazy, but it’s got everything necessary to achieve that sunkissed, beach-glow look, with natural colors and cheek highlighter. The key to retaining that beachy glow is definitely sun protectant, and these Greenpacha hats are a quick and chic fix. The brim isn’t overwhelmingly wide, so you can wear it while laying out at the beach or as you run errands during the day!

From left to right: Lilac Peace by MELISSA SHOES, Lido Espadrilles by ONDADEMAR

If you haven’t already gathered, we’re all about beach glamour, head to toe. Which is why come summer, we’re ditching all our boots and pumps for season-friendly sandals and espadrilles. These lilac Melissa Shoes have become fast favorites as they’re totally water-proof (perfect post-dip) and also provide that desired lift! The dark brown upper and natural espadrille lower of OndadeMar’s Lido shoe make the perfect combo, easily dressed up or down for summer activities day or night.

Enjoy your weekend, we’re off to the beach!

Fit Guide: Fully Covered.

Wednesday, March 7th, 2012

So you’re looking for a full coverage bottom but are having a hard time finding one that doesn’t resemble a diaper or granny panty? We think that finding a full coverage bottom might be the hardest of all, but we’re here to help!

From left to right: Tangier Pinup, Cobalt Chloe Triple Braid both by VITAMIN A

The one with the rings is practically a cult classic. If you’ve been on the hunt for a full coverage bottom and haven’t tried this one yet, you’re missing out! It has contoured rings and a perfectly cut back, full but not granny-full. If you have tried it and know the wonders of its magic, try the braided bottom next. It offers a great alternate style, sexy keyholes at the side and still provides that great coverage in back!

From left to right: Paris Panky by PILY Q, Rincon Boyshort by VITAMIN A SILVER

The trick is to maintain a sleek and snug fit and to remember that swim fabrics will sometimes stretch slightly once wet. When buying, keep these things in mind so that you don’t end up with sagging or ill-fitting bottoms.

Fit Guide: A Little Somethin’ Extra

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012

So you’ve realized the Brazilian bottom is not for you, but you’re not looking for full coverage either, just the perfect moderate bottom… Well, take your pick!

From left to right: Paris by ODABASH, Carnival Vintage by ONDADEMAR

The great thing about a moderate bottom is that it’s safe — you can rest assured that it’ll be appropriate for any and all occasions, whether you’re chasing down little ones on the beach or vacationing with the in-laws.

From left to right: Cabana, Forget Me Knot both by L*SPACE

If you’re just looking for bottoms to match tops you might already have, take a look at the ones above — sold completely separate.

This and That.

Monday, December 12th, 2011

We’ve been longtime fans of the mix and match bikini, which is why year after year some of our favorite lines are the ones that allow you to purchase separates. This season, instead of mixing patterns with solids, we’re seeing a surge of colorblocking sweep the runways, solids contrasting solids.

Mix this top with that bottom. The trick to pulling this look off is to mix complimentary colors, using one neutral shade to anchor the whimsy. This neutral taupe grounds the pretty citrus without contrasting too starkly — both by L*SPACE.

We also like the idea of the monochromatic colorblock, where two different hues of one color creates a modern yet flirty swim ensemble. These pretty shades of blue by VITAMIN A are prime examples.

Have any other fun color-blocking ideas? We’d love to hear (or SEE) them!

Lust for Lace!

Sunday, December 4th, 2011

Lace inspired designs are emerging left and right this season, and we’re loving every second of it! It exudes a feminine quality that just makes you feel sexy when you have it on! Here are three of our favorite lacy looks this season:

Subtle, white girlish lace in the Lola & Monique Love Affair by L*SPACE

Gorgeous black overlain on a chic nude in the Grace & Celebrity Lace by VITAMIN A

Modern 60s-esque Fairy Dress by INCA

What’s really amazing about the two bikinis pictured above is that the lace design is actually graphically printed onto the fabric, thus minimizing the chance of a dreadful snag! Bikini designers… always keeping you in mind!
