This and That.

Monday, December 12th, 2011

We’ve been longtime fans of the mix and match bikini, which is why year after year some of our favorite lines are the ones that allow you to purchase separates. This season, instead of mixing patterns with solids, we’re seeing a surge of colorblocking sweep the runways, solids contrasting solids.

Mix this top with that bottom. The trick to pulling this look off is to mix complimentary colors, using one neutral shade to anchor the whimsy. This neutral taupe grounds the pretty citrus without contrasting too starkly — both by L*SPACE.

We also like the idea of the monochromatic colorblock, where two different hues of one color creates a modern yet flirty swim ensemble. These pretty shades of blue by VITAMIN A are prime examples.

Have any other fun color-blocking ideas? We’d love to hear (or SEE) them!

Nude Attitude.

Sunday, December 11th, 2011

Hot pinks and neon brights are fun for summer, but sometimes toning it down can be fiercely sexy. We think, when paired with the right details, understated neutral shades and chic nude color schemes can make a bold and sophisticated statement. See below to find out what we mean!

Shimmer fabric and sleek gold slide accents in the Farrah by CHARLIE

Chic and sexy link hardware on the Angel and Catwalk by L*SPACE

Ultra soft terry cloth and lace up detail on the Dora by ODABASH

When wearing neutral shades, keeping the silhouette simple and streamlined is key to the effortlessly-pulled-together look. As an alternative to the piling on of adornments, subtler details like fabric choice, elegant hardware, sleek cuts and design add dimension to the simple color palette and keep these natural beauties from feeling overworked.

Nude, coincidentally, resembles skin (go figure), so double-takes may occur. But HEY, we said sophisticated and sexy. True to the Molly Brown’s style! ;)

Swimwear 2010 Trends – Less or More?

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Swimwear trends for the summer 2010 do not seem to be too modest, shy or about underplaying. 2010 swimwear is not just about bikinis, one pieces, cover ups, dresses, it’s also about sheer swimwear (remember the reveal all or some kind of bikinis), skimpy tankinis and other breathtaking swimsuits and bikinis.

The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week showed that none of the designer swimwear labels are taking the 2010 swimwear season to be only another. The stakes are high and the race to the top is intense! From great color themes to great risque in swimwear designs, women’s swimwear for summer 2010 features a lot of excitement and real revolution.

Let’s take a quick look at what’s less and what is in heaps in 2010 swimwear collection:

  • Color me allDesigner swimwear is definitely not taking chances with going simple. So there’s definitely less of   simple pastels and sandy colors. And the area that women’s swimwear seems most innovative is the color choice. 2010 swimwear is a color riot! Kaleidoscopic, mosaics, dots, and all the colors of summer are splashed on sexy silhouettes making them hotter than ever.
  • Mix n Match – With plain out of the picture, mix ‘n’ match prints – especially graphic prints are ruling the runaways and the beaches. Simple solids are not ‘the’ swimsuits.
  • Canny Cutouts – Unconventional cuts, plunging necklines, asymmetrical cuts and holes in swimwear are more than ever! Adding loads of style and catty appeal, these cuts are just too hot.
  • Neck & Shoulders – As there is more skin, there’s more shoulder and neck. Strapless bandeaus, one shoulder, plunging neck lines are reinforcing the less is more mantra!

There is loads of sexy, gorgeousness, rebel and art in 2010 women’s swimwear collection. Shop for the latest designer swimwear collection at Molly Brown’s swimwear store and be part of the 2010 swimwear revolution!

Cutout bikinis were also showcased, hinting at a continuing the trend that was clearly starting to grow in 2009. Also popular on the swimwear cat-walk this year was the “deep v” cut for one pieces, striking and bold, this cut is becoming more and more common.

    Trendy Swimwear

    Trendy Swimwear

Swimwear fashion has come a long way and is perfected every year. There are no denials that bikinis were not as stylish and chic few decades ago, as they are today. Retro or vintage style was more about keeping the modesty alive. Women in the contemporary era are more outgoing, super flamboyant and have oodles of confidence to flaunt their best assets. There’s less of coy and more of chutzpah in today’s women, to each, her own.

Beachwear is lifestyle for all fashion conscious ladies. Considering the transition, swimwear designers also come up with creations which are chic, exotic and have mainstream appeal. Summer sun is shining bright and the surf world is brimming with latest beach apparel designs. Swimsuit trends are more centralized around dazzling colors, unique designs and comfy fits.

Swimwear trends for 2009 and 2010

Among the colors which rule the fashion palettes, purple, emerald green and jewel tones with few shades of blue are big winners. Bikinis are apparently a hot favorite among stylistas but monokinis, tankinis, one piece malliots also continue to be popular with many women.

Retro swimwear is also creeping its way back into fashion. Those who insist on briefer looks and soaking up the sun a little more than the usual to get a perfect tan, bikinis are an instant choice. Frills and gorgeous embellishments are also big sellers. Animal prints are favored by those who love to flaunt the slice of their wild side.

    Latest Desinger Swimsuits

    Latest Desinger Swimsuits

Summers are here and the latest swimwear trends have made a splash on runways and ramps everywhere. Leading swimsuit designers like ViX, Despi, Vitamin A, Chio, etc., have unveiled their 2009 designer beachwear collections and the verdict is that this season, the trends have gone girly. Bright colors, frills, polka dots and outright feminine looks are all set to rule the beaches and pools during the 2009 summer!

Here is a look at some fads which are all set to rule. Pick one of these and you will be the most fashionable diva when you hit the beach.

One-Shoulder Bikinis – Monokinis are what the fashion critics are calling the one shoulder bikinis. The name is pretty self explanatory. When buying one, prefer a design which has sharp cuts. Make sure that the fit is good. Prefer a monokini in bold colors.

Cut-Away Swimwear – Think a retro swimsuit with very definite, sharp cuts. This trend is anything but demure. In fact, this one shouts ’sexy’ like nothing else.

Frilly CoverupsSwimsuits are not always to swim in, right? We all love to flaunt our designer swimwear and love it when heads turn. This summer, ruffled cover ups are a must. They will definitely add to the grace and beauty of an already gorgeous swimsuit.

Colorful Accessories – No beachwear is complete without the appropriate accessories. This season demands that you pair your designer swimsuits with playful accessories. Think pink or tangerine flip flops, colorful beads and hoops. One rule though, mix and match. Do not go monochromatic. Play with colors!

Designer swimwear has hit a new high this season with trends like the monokini and cut aways. The summer sure will be sizzling!
