Planet Blue’s in-house brand, Blue Life, symbolizes the essence of the true Californian girl spirit. The Blue Life swim collection closes a gap in the swimwear market with their authentic line of basics, portraying the Planet Blue girl’s lifestyle. Brought up in Oahu, Ling was galvanized by the sandy beaches, by the bohemian-chic and comfortable yet sexy life on the coast, and the name itself is the pretty picture of those golden childhood years.
A collection of beatnik shapes, lifestyle essentials and hand-created tie-dyed pieces, Blue Life’s designs are made to take girls from the comfort of their home to the life filled beaches, to the vibrant street and anywhere in between. Her beachwear is meant to slip off one’s shoulder, delicately revealing one’s beauty through smart cutouts or show a bit of leg through delicate slits. “We love skin. It’s always important to show a little”, says Ling.
Planet Blue swimwear pays tribute to its earthy roots, by getting their feet wet and becoming the lifestyle and fashion destination of Southern California, encompassing all that is fashion, braided with the colorful threads of bohemian beach culture.

Huntington Beach is the epitome of laid back, California cool. With its mile long beaches and ocean breeze that never stops blowing, it manages to encompass everything a city has to offer while still maintaining its small beach town feel. The brand new Pacific City shopping center opened about a year ago. Right on the second level, with its spanning views of the Pacific Ocean, is Molly Brown’s Swimwear. This store is the latest addition to the Molly Brown’s family and was opened in May of 2016. There are four Molly Dolls at the Huntington Beach store Tyler, Claire, Nikki, and Amy. This post dives deeper into their favorite brands, restaurants, and things to do in their free time.
The Huntington Beach store is the biggest location of them all so picking a favorite suit is no easy task with so many to choose from. Boys + Arrows, Stone Fox Swim, Blue Life, and L*Space are some of the Molly Dolls favorites. Tyler loves anything that accentuates her curves and adds some sex appeal. The Bad News Beck 1pc by Boys + Arrows does just that! It is super flattering and has a great low cut razorback design to show some skin. One trend that has formed this year in swimwear this year is bikini tops that tie in the front. Claire loves that look! The Hana top by Stone Fox Swim paired with the Malibu bottoms is the perfect mix of girly, pretty, sexy, but still classy. One pieces are also making a come back. However, they are not anything like they used to be. The new designs include low backs, deep v fronts, lace up detailing, and cutouts. They are statement pieces but are also practical in the water. Blue Life has the Roped Up 1pc that has been flying off the shelves this year. It is no question why it’s Amy’s favorite. It has textured fabric with completely lace up sides that make it adjustable and super easy to wear. It is a sexy suit that can also double as a bodysuit with a pair of jeans or even denim cut offs. L*Space makes great suits season after season. Their color blocking is always really unique. Nikki loves the Platinum top and Charlie bottom in the Fog Grey color that is trimmed in white. It is gorgeous and the colors look great on tanned skin.
Pacific City has so many great places to eat and lounge about why staring into the sunset. There is everything from BBQ to sushi. Ola is right across the way from Molly Brown’s. It is a Mexican cantina with the most beautiful ocean views. Tyler might be a little biased when choosing her favorite restaurant due to convenience but the chips and salsa are amazing. She is also a big fan of the El Dragon margarita from Ola. Tequila + Watermelon = heaven! Bear Flag is THE place to go for poke and fish tacos. It was started in Southern California and gives off the laid back vibe while serving sushi grade tuna and salmon. Claire always goes there because who doesn’t love eating fish tacos with an ocean view? To keep with the sushi theme… Amy loves to eat at Sushi on Fire. It is just a quick jump from Pacific City over to Main St. They have so many appetizers and countless rolls to choose from. The Bungalow at Pacific City is known as the number one place to go out in Huntington Beach. Little do people know, they serve food there and it’s from Bear Flag. The Bungalow sits right above Bear Flag so the food is just brought up to all the customers. Nikki loves The Bungalow because it has great drinks and great vibes.
In their free time they loves to get out in the sunshine and have a variety of different hobbies. Tyler loves to getaway to Hawaii when she can and escape California. She enjoys having a fun long day at the beach and capping it off with a bonfire, smores, and hanging with her friends. Claire loves to go up to Napa Valley to clear her head and spend some days just purely relaxing. Her favorite beach besides Huntington is Santa Monica. It’s perfect for a fun little day trip! Sometimes you have to escape the warm beach weather and head up to the snow. Amy has been skiing since she was 3 years old. She loves to hit the powder! She loves to go up to the Sequoia National Park for some quality isolation and crisp mountain air. In Southern California there are no shortage of beautiful beaches and places to explore and get lost in for a day. Laguna Beach is Nikki’s go to spot to take pretty photos for her Instagram and lay in the sun.
The Pacific City shipping center is a great place to come spend the day. It is just steps away from the sand. Come by anytime and meet our Huntington Beach Molly Dolls.
This Fashion Friday’s pick is going to be an outfit from Blue Life by Planet Blue.
This is one of my favorite outfits of the season! The Haley Top is a lightweight piece with a deep V that overlaps in the front. Belled sleeves make for a cute retro look that can be dressed up or worn casually.
Gypsy Pant is a mid rise pant with pockets. The vertical stripes along the sides elongate the legs.
The Haley Top also comes in printed or indigo and can be paired any bottom.
Blue Life is Planet Blue’s in-house brand. Blue Life’s versatile pieces are designed to be worn from the beach to the streets!
The line features a collection of bohemian silhouettes and off the shoulder pieces that epitomizes the true style of a California girl.
My other favorite piece from them is the BB Dress. This dress has a deep V neckline with a knotted detail under the bust for a fuller look. Sexy side cutouts lead to a cutout back as well.
Check out the rest of the collection by Blue Life and find your favorites!
The color green, in our opinion, has been overshadowed by its bolder and brighter counter parts. One can see it in the stores, on the ramps and even around us, but it’s rarely ever acknowledged like the orange and the blacks! Anyway, we decided to give the humble yet honorable green its rightful due by showcasing bikinis and swimwear in varying shades of the beautiful and refreshing green! We decided to celebrate July as the Green month because this month is mostly a harbinger of verdure and rains in many parts of the world.
The Vix Bia One Piece:
We’ll unveil this envy-inducing list of green bikinis and swimwear with the magnificent – Bia 1 Pc from Vix swimwear. This one piece is made for the goddess of the beach. Sizzle when you step out on the beach wearing this Vix piece and give people a reason to think beyond the hot pinks or the sunset oranges.
The Pily Q Zen Halter and Braided Bottom:
Cute, perky and the cause of so much envy, the Pily Q Zen Halter and Braided Bottom is aesthetically sexy. With its cuts and contours, the Zen Halter bikini features braided detailing both on the halter top and the skimpy bottom. This Pily Q bikini is in pristine pistachio – the sweetest green that you can find. Need we say more? Oh yes, get it right here.
Dolcessa Coins Underwire Beachwave Bikini:
This bikini is splashed with the sea – literally. Imbued in beachwave colors of soothing blues and the greens, the Dolcessa Coins Underwire bikini will be your special pick for a special day out at the beach. Planet Blue/ Blue Life Summer Night Dress
This dress starts off as a maxi dress and comes just a bit lower from mid-way, turning into a sexy killer with a slit that hits right where it hurts the most. If you believe in following your own rules and swagger, this Blue Life dress is the one that will provide the confidence and the right attitude for you to stand tall among the rest. Wear a sexy bikini underneath when you are are ready to unsettle some waves and are tired of smoldering the sand.
So there you have it: the green apples of our eyes. Could have July been some other color? Let us know in the comments or connect with us on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest or Google+ and we’ll cover the color that make your smiles bigger and eyes brighter.
The beach is the perfect place for Planet Blue, and the Malibu, California–head-quartered multi-brand boutique chain has introduced a private-label women’s swim line called Blue Life Swim.
The Blue Life Swimwear label is not for the women who prefer modest swim looks. It’s a provoking line, designed especially to evoke head-turning, jaw-dropping and inducing fantasies. The line features cut-out paneling on many pieces. The line’s “Malibu Racer Back” top, features a large keyhole cutout between the cleavage.. yep, that does sizzle! In the “Island Fever” triangle top, two straps of fabric create an “X” in the back of the top that creates the right kind of magic. There are cutouts in the sides of the line’s “Surf City Brazilian” bottom, and the aptly named “Free Spirit Dress” will make anyone look like a beach diva!
Blue Life‘s debut comes in different schemes, such as a tie-dye mixed with indigo, white and lime colors. Solids come in lime greens, blacks and reds, perfect to don when taming a tumultuous wave. Or just being pretty promenading on a dusky shoreline. There’s also a paisley print in the line. So the beach won’t be the only place for this swim line to be seen. You’ll see it at the pool, in a bar, on the street, because you can wear it with jeans and dresses. Not to mention as outfits for concerts.
Speaking of concerts, why don’t you wear a Blue Life piece at the Coachella Arts and Music Festival in Indio and see how many guys return a glance as you enjoy the fun and the attention.
Considering how deliciously warm it’s been in Cali this season, we’ve been caught daydreaming about all the beach-ready looks to don over this 2014 spring and summer. And since we’re getting so stoked on all things swim here at Molly Brown’s, there’s literally something for every babe in this line- from teeny bikinis, one pieces, boho prints and a sporty mesh two-piece that will slay all your old swimsuits.
Ready to get wet and party? Come! Let’s hit the perfect wave together …… on Planet Blue.
